Connecting directly with those we serve

December 11, 2024, was a milestone with our first visit behind the wall to participate in a Reentry Resource Fair hosted by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) Reentry and Transitional Services team at Central Maryland Correctional Facility (CMCF). The event brought together organizations committed to supporting men who are preparing to return home.

We were proud to table alongside one of our valued community partners, PREPARE, connecting directly with soon-to-be returning citizens and sharing information about affordable, low-barrier housing and reentry support. Reentry Resource Fairs are crucial opportunities for incarcerated individuals within months of release to learn about employment pathways, job readiness, identification documents, parole and probation guidance, healthcare, mental health services, and housing options.

This visit reaffirmed that early connection matters. Reentry doesn’t begin on release day—it starts with access, information, and building relationships. We’re grateful to DPSCS, PREPARE, and all participating partners for creating space where preparation meets possibility, and we look forward to continuing this work in community and collaboration.
